Registration

Registration is Open!

So you’d like to register for the 2017 Great Lakes Steelpan Festival? Of course you do! With all your busy schedules, though, we realize that any extra time required to get this done is not going to help. So instead, WE are here to help.

First, follow the links to Registration, or just click here.

The form starts off just getting some basic information from you like name, school (if applicable), phone number, etcetera.

Ensemble Name – If you don’t have a unique ensemble name that differs from your School or Organization Name, then either put the same thing, or take “School/Org. Name” and add “Steelband” ūüėÄ

Instruments Used РWe need to know how large your group is (numbers) but also specific instruments (lead, double tenor, double seconds, six bass, etc.) so that we can plan for load in/out, spacing for your clinic, and placement in the mass band. We understand that you might not know which of your students will be able to attend, or some other factors, but the more accurate information you can provide here the better.

Instruments We Need To Provide – Do you need us to provide anything? Let us know here. Specifics will be gone over via phone/e-mail so don’t worry too much about this right now.

Experience Level – This is to help us plan out the best clinician for you as well as make suggestions on the mass band pieces for you. We welcome everybody from complete novices to experienced professionals. Pan is for all!

Age Range – This is again to help us put you with the best suited clinician.

We hope this helps clear up any confusion with the registration forms. Of course, if you have any questions in the meantime, simply¬†EMAIL US¬†and we’ll get back with you right away. We are looking forward to seeing you sign up, but remember, space is limited, so register quickly to save¬†your spot!

It’s Time To Register – Here’s How!

So you’d like to register for the Great Lakes Steelpan Festival 2015? That is certainly a sensible thing to do! With all your busy schedules, though, we realize that any extra time required to get this done is not going to help. So instead, WE are here to help. The registration form is pretty long, and there are a few items you may be confused about, so here’s a quick guide to make sure you know exactly what you need to do.

First, follow the links to Full Group Registration, or just click here. (Scroll down for information on Solo/Small Group Registration!)

The first group of categories are all on you: Director First/Last Name, School or Organization Name, Mailing Address, Email, Phone, & Fax. Just plug in the information you use.

Ensemble Name – If you don’t have a unique ensemble name that differs from your School or Organization Name, then either put the same thing, or take “School/Org. Name” and add “Steelband” ūüėÄ

Ensemble Instrumentation – We need to know how large your group is (numbers) but also specific instruments (lead, double tenor, double seconds, six bass, etc.) so that we can plan for your load in/out, spacing for your clinic, and placement in the mass band. We understand that you might not know which of your students will be able to attend, or some other factors, but the more accurate information you can provide here the better.

Number of Non-Performers – This would be anyone that traveled with you, and will be spending the entire day with you. These people will be treated as though they have a “Day-Pass” to the festival. This is ideal for directors, chaperones, or other staff members. Please enter the total number of non performers. For every 5 performers, you will receive one of these day passes for free. Any additional day passes will cost $15.

Festival T-Shirts – These are black T-Shirts that sport a small¬†GLSF logo on the front in the upper left corner. The back has a large GLSF logo¬†crossing the shoulders and “Great Lakes Steelpan Festival” written below, with¬†a few of our sponsor’s logos below that. This is a great way for you and your students to show off your participation in the festival, and spread the word about GLSF. We will get finalized order information after your registration is complete, but giving approximate sizing would help us out. Your form field may look like [10S, 5M, 7L, 3XL] or [37 mostly S/M]. Please note, the shirts will be available for sale at the show but in extremely limited quantities, and you save money by pre-ordering with your registration!

Approximate Travel Time (in Hours) – This is just for our records. We want to know how you’re getting here! This helps us promote and advertise appropriately.

Number of Concert Tickets¬†– This is not for you, or your chaperones. Remember, anyone who you counted in “Non-performers” has a “Day-Pass” which includes the concert. This is for some family members that decided to drive along with you, but spend the early parts of the day in Chicago before heading back for the concert. This is for Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/Whoever, who happens to live closer to us than you and wants to come see the show. This is for anyone that you are bringing in for JUST the evening concert. We are offering this to you, so your friends and family can attend the concert at a significant discount. All tickets sold at the door, the day of the event, will be full price ($25) with no exceptions. So, save your friends and family some money, and fill up our seats, by pre-ordering some tickets here, for the evening concert. These registration tickets will be $10, while general pre-order concert tickets are $17.50.

Now – for the Soloists and Small Groups, you’ll want to click here instead.

Name, Address, Email, Phone, and Fax – Again, this is all on you.

Ensemble Name – if you’re a soloist, just put your name again. If you’re a group, let us know what you call yourselves!

Number of Performers – Let us know how big you are so we know what sort of space you’ll be needing.

Piece Name & Brief Description and/or mass band – As a soloist or small group, you are eligible to either receive feedback from our guest artist in a mini-clinic on a piece you are working on, or take part in the mass band, or both. If you are working on putting Bach on pan, or improvising on jazz standards on pan, or taking solos over backing tracks, or adapting a mallet percussion piece to your pan, we want to know what you play so we can pair you with the best clinician for you. Furthermore, if you want to stay for the evening concert and play in the mass band (you will need to attend the afternoon¬†rehearsal as well), just let us know here. You can also just do the mass band (with rehearsal), simply say “Mass Band Only.”

Ensemble Instrumentation РLet us know which pan you play. Are you playing alone, with other pans, or with other instruments? For anyone taking part in the mass band, we need very specific information on which instrument you play so that we can send you the correct parts to learn.

Number of Reduced-Price Day Pass Tickets: If you have a friend or family member joining you, or even a stranger tagging along for the day, any one who is a non performer will need a ticket. Here you can get them access to the entire day (clinics, workshops, and evening concert) at a hugely reduced rate. Otherwise, they will have to pay full price at the door. Be nice to your friends, and save them money by pre-ordering their tickets here!

We hope this helps clear up any confusion with the registration forms. Of course, if you have any questions in the meantime, simply EMAIL US and we’ll get back with you right away. We are looking forward to seeing you sign up, but remember, space is limited, so register quickly to guarantee¬†your spot!
